This was my first, ever surgery, and it could not have been a better experience.
I researched for the past year, reading reviews, contacting doctors, local and international, (please don’t be limited to the country you live in, experience and health care is at an extremely high standard in Argentina and elsewhere, just do your research, it was so worth it for me), I talked to many people in Canada who went through breast augmentation surgeries locally and didn’t get to stay overnight after the procedure. As the first 24hrs is the most critical time for care, this option is of extreme importance and cuts down the risks involved drastically.
After contacting Dr. Freschi from Canada I had confidence, although I still made my final decisions in person. I should mention all communication with the doctor was in English. His English is excellent! We emailed, he answered all my questions with fantastic timing, gave me things to think about, offered a questionnaire about my overall health, told me what to expect, what options would best suit me and gave much more information. All of that reinforced his confidence and care. One key differentiator from local surgeons is his amazing experience. He performs hundreds more surgeries annually than Canadian doctors. Certainly, in my experience, practice makes perfect.
My husband and I booked 2 weeks in Argentina – you need at least 7-10 days there after surgery for a proper start to recovery. I did all the appropriate tests in Canada and had my blood work and consultation done in Buenos Aires (BA) with ease. People in health care in BA are patient even when there is a language barrier (google translator helps! ). We found that it is not necessary to share a language in order to be professional and show care. Dr. Freschi’s people and the support staff and the clinic were all caring and professional – which made me feel more confident and comfortable.
My surgery was booked two days after consultation at a clinic close to Dr. Freschi’s office in the Recoleta neighborhood. Being BA, there are plenty of restaurants around and Recoleta itself is a fantastic base for accommodation. The check in was easy and the hospital room was clean and good – having a door that actually closed was a unique experience for someone from Ontario! There was even a large couch which staff set up with bedclothes for my husband to stay overnight with me. The food was also OK, although my husband chose to eat at a local cafeteria because the dining opportunities were too good to miss.
Everyone on the team, from the nurses, through to the anesthetist, was introduced to me and this ensured my physical and mental comfort throughout the procedure. Just placing a pillow under my knees for comfort in the OR insured I would be cared for under general anesthesia. The post-care was great and my bruising has been amazingly low. All my questions to the doctor served to demonstrate his unique techniques for bruise and scar reduction. It all made sense and my lovely new breasts are the evidence!
One surgeon is not going to be perfect for everyone, but I urge you to consider Dr. Freschi for your surgery.
The clinic was clean and comfortable. From the room, I stayed in with my husband to the OR, to the food. It was an overall great experience with very caring staff.
